The Bottega Veneta Fall collection seems to have recreated the power suit, a sort of Melanie Griffith from Working Girl for 2010. Each look commands a presence with sweeping lines and broad silhouettes. There is a careful fusion of masculine and feminine that results in this image of power and success.

Masculine forms are created with strong shoulders and a straight waist. The shoulders are often pronounced with ruffles, padding, and various forms of leather "armor". In the day wear the waist is often left uncinched, creating straight lines down the sides of the figure. Some pieces are made entirely out of leather for a harder look. Feminine aspects are introduced in softer fabrics and draping, with cinched waists and flowing dresses. The silhouettes are long and towering, creating the vision of woman who is more of a queen than a princess.

This is not an emphasis on androgyny but rather an emphasis on the woman who has captured several dimensions of her own inherent nature, and can step out as such.
